In celebration of the Chinese New Year, we have selected a new restaurant in Media, Dim Sum Mania for our January gathering.  The chef/owner, Jintao Tom” Guo has been cooking traditional Dim Sum for over 20 years, and one member of our dinner committee has been following (and eating!) his food for almost that long.  We are very excited to present this opportunity to our members!

So what exactly is Dim Sum?  Dim sum is literally translated to mean touch the heart” and the associated Cantonese phrase yum cha means to drink tea.” Taken together, dim sum is a meal of small dishes served with tea comprised of a collection of savory and sweet tastes from a variety of steamed and fried dumplings, buns, and rolls.

Chef Tom has created a beautiful 4-course menu, starting with soup, followed by a great variety of Dim Sum, two entrees with Chinese vegetables and ending with two wonderful and unique desserts.

One thing these dishes will NOT be is the American version of a Chinese menu; they will truly represent the very best in traditional Chinese cooking.  We will be drinking tea, of course, and we will offer a sparkling wine and our custom Chaine logo beer crafted for us by Levante Brewery, and you are welcome to BYOB too!

We have also arranged to make a unique pin for this event to add to your Chaine ribbon!

And finally, $10 of your payment will go directly to a deserving charity connected with food in the area.

Whether new to Dim Sum, or an aficionado, you will come away from this delightful dining experience with a greater appreciation for the artistry, quality, breadth, adaptability, and creativity of this cuisine.

Parking in Media is not difficult on a Sunday; there are many municipal spots available within 2 blocks of the restaurant. Be aware, there is another Dim Sum restaurant (Tom s Dim Sum) just a couple of doors down, so make sure you go to the right location!
